football Goa humble Assam 4 0 Goa humbled Assam 4-0 to begin their quarterfinal league of the 18th U-21 national football championship for the Dutta Ray Trophy on a bright note at the Nehru Stadium in Margao on Wednesday.

Goa, who led 1-0 at half time, scored through Agnelo Monteiro (32nd), Cajetan Fernandes (51st), Disckson Rogtao (61st) and Dawson Fernandes (injury time).

Goa play their next match against Mizoram on 8th May.
Assam, who looked good in the attack initially, came up with a couple of shots that saw an N Kukit long ranger sail inches over the bar.

However it was Goa, who had easy outings in the preliminary rounds, who took the lead in the 32nd minute.
Following a free kick from the right, defender Agnelo Colaco took a powerful shot which keeper Daoga Bramha blocked, the deflection came to Agnelo Monteiro who shot it in.

The goal spurred Goa as they attacked with more vigour and increased the lead in the 51st minute.

Placio Carvalho from the right sent a low cross which the Assam custodian failed to intercept as the ball slipped underneath his hands and Cajetan Fernandes who was following the move, shot in.
