| Imphal, May 20 : Football Veteran Welfare Association blanked XI Star Sporting Union by 2-0 goals in the 11th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Association played at Mapal Kangjeibung today. The Football Veteran Welfare Association were attacking in their approach right from the whistle and forward L. Dhonen Singh scored in the second minute of play. B. Sanahal Sharma running along the left sent a goalmouth pass to L. Dhonen Singh, who leapt and sent a slicing kick to ruffle the XI Star net to bring up the goal. The XI Star Sporting Union veteran looked in good touch but found hard to capitalise on their chances and the frequent attack by their opponents kept them at bay. As pressure kept mounting on the XI Star veteran, Football Veteran Welfare Association found the second goal, after E. Rajen Singh scored in the 15th minute of the match. Although XI Star Sporting Union went all out in the second half, their attacks were fruitless. |
