Shillong, April 22 : Team members of the Lajong Football Club, which scripted history as the first team from the Northeast to make to the big league of Indian football — the I-League — were felicitated at a function here today.
The Shillong Sports Association and Meghalaya Football Association jointly felicitated the team members. Besides, the Khasi Students Union also felicitated all the 25 members of the club with citations and medals.
The Lajong players expressed satisfaction over their feat but said they had miles to go before achieving “something bigger”.
The players also called for better infrastructure at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Polo Ground here.
