ALEX FERGUSON has backed David Beckham's bid to join AC Milan on a permanent basis.

The LA Galaxy midfielder is enjoying a fine spell at the San Siro and has expressed a desire to finish his playing days in Italy with Carlo Ancelotti's side.
The 33-year-old still has three years left on the £25million-a-year deal he signed with Galaxy in 2007.
But he has instructed his lawyers to begin negotiating his release from the MLS club in an attempt to seal a £14million switch to Milan.
And now Beckham's former Manchester United boss has backed the England star’s decision to play for one of Europe's most illustrious teams.
Feguson said: "If they give him that opportunity it would be silly not to take it.
“He’s had a spell at Galaxy and, fine, they’ve paid him an awful lot of money and they should have some loyalty from him.
“But being selfish, if I was given the chance to go to Milan, I would take it.
"There’s no chance he can do it in two years. This is a golden moment for the lad and I think he’ll take it.
"If they can work out a deal between Milan and Galaxy I think it will happen.”
