Imphal, Aug. 28: Youth Development Organisation registered a 2-1 victory over Kuki Sporting Club, New Lambulane, in the 10th S. Birendra Singh Memorial Super Division Football League Tournament at Thangmeiband Athletic Union ground here today. Youth Development Organisation drew first blood with Singba Kabui ruffling the net in the 17th minute to take the lead. The Kuki players got another shock when M. Ronel Meitei scored the second goal just two minutes later. The first half ended with Youth Development dominating play. In the second half, the tempo was at its challenging best as Kuki Sporting Club went on the attacking mode, while Youth Development were consolidating their defence and initiating quick counter attacks too. Minutes away from the final whistle, Kuki Sporting Club launched a last effort and Jonathan finally found his mark in the lone minute of injury time. In another match, Sagolband United defeated Dimapur Road Athletic Organisation by 2-0 goals. Thangmeiband Athletic Union, in yet another encounter, blanked Yaiskul Athletic Club 3-0. Imphal East football United Progressive Adult Association scooped a 2-1 goal victory over Friends Union Club in the M. Ibobi Singh Memorial First Division Football League played at Eastern Sporting Union ground. XI Star Sporting Union blanked Youth Organisation and Sporting Club by 3-0 goals in the Maharaj Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division Football League played at ESU ground. |

Dimapur | March 11 : Purana Bazar Sumi Baptist Church today beat Kuki Christian Church 6-5, the match going into a tie-breaker to book a semi final berth at the ongoing 4th Football for Bible, organised by the Bible Society of India, Dimapur Auxiliary at the DDSC Stadium, in Dimapur.
Earlier, both the teams scored a goal each through the boots of Peter for Purana Bazar SBC and Thongminthang for Kuki CC in the allotted time.
In the tie-breaker, S Seyie, Apen, Jompong, Peter and Azo scored for Purana Bazar SBC while Lalpu, Thongminthang, Igbal, Paojangin netted for Kuki CC. However, Paokholal of Kuki CC missed his shot, which sailed over the goal post. Peter of Purana Bazar SBC was adjudged man of the match.
In an exhibition match, Referees XI defeated the Bible Society of India, Dimapur Auxiliary XI 4-2. For Referees XI, the goals were scored by Akang Zeliang, Namsi, Khazheto and Katem while Mughato was the lone scorer for the organizers. However, Khazheto of Referees XI scored a suicidal goal for his team.
Akang Zeliang who scored the first goal in the 40 minutes game was awarded Rs. 500.
Meanwhile, Shiyito Achumi, president of the Dimapur District Football Referees Association (DDFRA) has expressed gratitude to all who donated generously towards the buffet of the association on February 17 last, at the DDSC Stadium in Dimapur, in aid of the educational tour to Kolkata in the coming month of April, to watch the Kolkata League.
