Manipur lifts School Games Football Championship

Manipur defended the title successfully by defeating Orissa on Tuesday in a sudden death stage in the final of the 57th National School Games Football Championship at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.
Milan scored a goal while the goal keeper of the Manipur managed to save the goal in the sudden death stage clinching the contest in a nail biting thriller.
Both the teams were unable to score any goal in the stipulated time. Later in the extra-time also the match was leveled by no goal. In the penalty shootout both scored 4-4 goals.
In the closing ceremony Chief Guest Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed said that the state is hosting national level tournaments which are encouraging youth to sports.
“We have successfully hosted national tournaments giving a clear message that Kashmir is peaceful,” said the minister.
