22-member squad for U-13 football

CHANDIGARH: A 22-member Indian squad for the AFC (South Asian Zone) Cup for Under-13 boys Football Festival will leave for Yazd in Iran on Tuesday.

The team attended a one-month national coaching camp at PEC University recently.

West Bengal and Mizoram have contributed a big share to the team. Eight boys from West Bengal and six from Mizoram figure among the 22-member India team. Three are from Mizoram, two from Kerala and one each from Goa, Haryana and Assam. There is no player from Chandigarh, though one of the CFHA trainee attended the conditioning camp at Goa but could not make it to the probables.

India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are competing in the Iran U-13 Festival.

Coach Satheevan Balan said that the boys would be divided into two teams. One team will play in the first match and next XI will play in the next match and so on.
