Dibrugarh, June 11 : Assam Police today blanked Moran Town Club 5-0 in the last quarter-final match of the C.K. Sarma Invitation Football Tournament at Chowkidingee playground here.
With today’s match, the semi-final line-up for the tournament has been drawn up. Oil India FC will take on Morning Star Club, Diphu, tomorrow in the first semi-final, while Assam Police will face Green Valley Sports Club, Guwahati the day after in the second semi-final.
Robijit Zigdung today fired in the first two goals in the 7th and 15th minutes for Assam Police.
His first one was achieved through solo effort while the second one came from a near-perfect half volley which he took capitalising on an accurate pass from the right flank by Anuj Gogoi.
Assam Police led 2-0 till half time. Then on, Munna Limbu (68th minute), S. Singha (71st minute) and Tapan Das (76th minute) scored the three remaining goals for Assam Police to seal the fate of Moran Town Club.
Moran Town Club could do very little before the well-organised Assam Police team, which displayed some good teamwork today.
“Although the result was totally one sided, it was a very good match to watch. It was really a delight to watch Robijit Zigdung when he is in full flow,” Sameer Ghosh, a spectator said.
