Referees place new demands

Imphal, Feb 1: The deadlock over the resumption of the 4th Manipur State League continues as the Football Referees’ Welfare Committee has put up fresh demands to the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA).
The referees were irked when the AMFA drew the next part of the fixture before holding a meeting with them to thrash out the differences beforehand.
In response, they convened a second meeting to chart out their next moves.
Apart from their main demand for armed security and medical assistance with ambulance at the match venue, the referees had now laid emphasis on amending the AMFA disciplinary code, calling for more stringent penalty for players as well as team officials who assaulted the referees. They wanted the association to hold the team responsible for any such event.
The referees also dwelt on the possibility for AMFA to initiate criminal proceedings against the spectators and fans, who invade the field and assault referees in the future.
