CRPF sponsors camp

Imphal, July 15: A three-month football coaching camp for the Eastern Sporting Union, Wangkhei, was inaugurated by M.S. Raghava, DIG, CRPF today.

The camp, which is being sponsored by the Group Centre CRPF, Langjing under its civic action programme, features 25 senior male players of the ESU.

The estimated expenditure of the camp is Rs 2.59 lakhs, which includes kits.

The kits contain 50 footballs, 50 boots, six pairs of goalkeeping gloves, 29 anklets and kneecaps, 44 sets of jerseys and six goalkeeping shorts.

The camp will be held under two coaches.

Raghava, today urged the players to take full advantage of the programme. He added that the central paramilitary force would extend all possible help to Manipur’s sportsmen in the future too.

Ch. Birendra Singh IAS (Retd), while welcoming the CRPF effort, asked all the players to give in their best and get ready for the football session.

The coaching camp will serve as a launching pad for the 4th Manipur State League, which is likely to be held in August.

An exhibition football match between Eastern Sporting Union and Group Centre CRPF, Langjing, was held after the inauguration.

Eastern Sporting Union won the match 1-0.
