SSU upset NISA in State League

Imphal, April 7 : SSU Singjamei upset reigning Manipur State League champions NISA Thangmeiband today.

Still NISA is at the top of the current league table at 47 points while SSU is two points behind at third.

TRUGPU Nambol is trailing the Thangmeiband side by a single point.

At Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today, SSU beat NISA by a solitary goal.

The all important goal was scored by Y Sachnanda capitalising on a through pass by L Dewan in the 16th minute.

Even as NISA was awarded a penalty kick just 14 minutes later, goalkeeper Narakanta of SSU denied the possible equaliser by blocking the kick from S Manimohon.

Today's result was exact reverse of the first leg match in which the Thangmeiband side overcame SSU at the same goal margin.

Earlier in the day, MPSC outlasted NEROCA 3-2 .

N Deshkumar, Ksh Kanta and Md Ziaul Haque scored for the police side.

For NEROCA, Tongbram Raju and H Chakravarti scored one apiece.

MPSC won the first leg match too. At Khuman Lampak pratice field, NLYC Churachandpur held ESU Wangkhei to a 1-1 draw.

Ph Cheitei's 58th minute goal was neutralised by Thangminlien of NLYC in the 76th minute.

ESU beat NLYC 2-1 in the first leg.

TRAU Kwakeithel overcame YWC Thambalkhong 5-4 in a high scoring match played at the same ground.

Helun Haokip struck thrice as David Kamson and P Ajitkumar contrubuted one goal each.

For YWC, L Sunil scored twice in addition to one each by Palmei Paupangai and W Daniel.

But in the first leg, YWC blanked TRAU 2-0 .

At Bishnupur Mini Stadium, TRUGPU Nambol defeated USA Khurai 2-1, thanks to an own goal by Ch Kesho.

The first goal was scored by G Anthony Kabui.

N Sushil struck the lone goal for USA.

The first leg match between the two teams ended in goalless draw.

At Kodompokpi ground, PYC Phoudel beat AMOFA Moirang 2-1 whom they whipped 3-1 in the first leg.

L Bikram and Md Shahidur Rehman scored for the winners.

The lone goal for the Moirang side was a suicide goal made Kh Binoy.
