DD to show preparation for Santosh trophy in Assam

NEW DELHI, Mar 13 : The North East round-up on Doordarshan this weekend will have a segment on how Assam is gearing up for the forthcoming Santosh Trophy.

The episode will show how investments are coming into the North East and in football. Foreign coaches have been appointed to train the boys.

The weekly programme is telecast every Sunday at 9 am on DD National (DD-1) and is a cultural magazine programme which focuses on all the eight states of the region. This particular episode, packaged by Vision Communications, is scheduled to telecast on 15 March next.

The first segment of this episode is on development and is about the construction of the 126 megawatts Leshka Hydro electric project located at Amlarem sub-division in the Jaintia hills district of Meghalaya. The project would supplement the exiting 185.2 MW Hydro electric power that is available to the state at present.

Another segment is on opportunities and talks about the famous North East Regional Institute of Science & Technology or NERIST located in Nirjuli, Arunanchal Pradesh. There is a sgement about the ordeal of the three families of Manipur whose earning members were brutally killed by militants.
