Dibrugarh, Feb 11 : Hosts OIL A will take on ONGC in the final of the 29th inter-unit Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) football tournament currently under way at Nehru Maidan in Duliajan. The final match will be played tomorrow afternoon.
In the first semi-final match, ONGC edged out OIL-B by a solitary goal in a lacklustre encounter, while OIL-A thrashed IOCL (AOD) 5-0 in the second semi-final to storm into the finals.
In the ONGC versus OIL-B match Kobijit Khatwal scored the all-important goal in the 43rd minute after a barren first half. Khatwal scored the goal dribbling past two defenders of the opponent team.
On the other hand, OIL-A were able to dominate the proceedings against IOCL (AOD) from the very beginning scoring one goal after another.
Manash Manjit Chetia (7th min), Durga Boro (11th min), Mintu Boro (16th min) and Bhupen Gogoi (28th min) scored the four goals in the first half to break the morale of the IOCL players. After the break, Birjab Musahary scored yet another goal in the 11th minute of the second half to make it 5-0 for his team. |
