Jiban Singh guides team to semi-final

Imphal, Feb. 28 : North Eastern Re-Organising and Cultural Association blanked Wangoi Football Association 6-0 to move into the semi-finals of the 6th Th. Birchandra Singh Football Academy State-Level Junior Football Tournament at Toubungkhok.
In the Group B quarter-final match today, North Eastern players ruled the field from the word go with Jiban Singh leading the assault scoring four goals within the first 20 minutes of the first half and another in the 47th minute of the match.
Yarmepei Shang scored the fifth goal of the match in the 45th minute for the winners.
In a Group A match played yesterday, Eastern Sporting Union, Wangkhei, edged past Western Sporting Union, Toubungkhok, by a solitary goal to enter the semi-finals.
The match remained goalless in the first half with neither team conceding an inch. However, Tomcha Singh came up with the lone goal in the 49th minute to win the game for Eastern Union.
In another Group A tie, Northern Sporting Union, Awang Potshangbam, were held to a goalless draw with Hayel Youth Progressive Club, but they still moved into the semi-final by virtue of a better goal average.
From Group A, Eastern Sporting Union topped the table with their undefeated run, collecting 12 points from four matches.
