Indian Oil post flawless win

GAIL suffer humiliating 5-0 defeat
Dibrugarh, Feb 9 : Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Assam Oil Division, blanked Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) 5-0 in a match of the 29th Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) football tournament at Nehru Maidan in Duliajan today.
IOCL took the upper hand from the very first minute and Dipak Thapa scored the first goal in the 2nd minute of the match.
The GAIL team did not even get time to regroup before IOCL struck again with Azimuddin Ahmed scoring the second goal in the 7th minute.
The IOCL players showed no signs of letting up the pressure and kept up with their attacks. Their persistence was awarded when Nripen Borgohain scored the third goal for the team in the13th minute.
GAIL defenders regrouped after the triple salvo and displayed a better performance after that. They were successful in keeping the IOCL strikers at bay for the rest of the first half, which saw some midfield action, but no goals.
IOCL led 3-0 till the half time.
They kept up the pressure in the second half and denied GAIL any respite. Pronob Gogoi scored the 4th goal for his team in the 48th minute.
IOCL’s ruthless attack continued and in the 50th minute Paban Rajbongshi hammered the final nail into the GAIL coffin by netting in a stunner.
In the two matches played on Saturday, GAIL defeated Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) 3-0, while BPCL defeated BRPL 6-0.
Tomorrow, BPCL will play against OIL-B, while IOCL (AOD) will take on CPCL.
