Imphal, Jan 7 : Sagolband Sepak Takraw Association (A) and Youth Amateur Welfare Association (A) are well on their way from Group A to secure a semi-final berth in the men’s regu event in the third A. Somorendra State-Level Open Sepak Takraw Championship. Hosts Sagolband Sepak Takraw Association (A) had no difficulty in taming Sports Cultural and Mass Communication, Sagolband, in straight 21-8, 21-8 sets in the men’s regu today. Sagolband Sepak Takraw Association (A) also surprised the formidable Youth Amateur Welfare Association (A) by defeating them in straight sets. Youth Amateur Welfare Association (A), Singjamei, had two easy wins and inched closer to the semi-finals. Youth Amateur had no difficulty in overcoming Yaipha Thousil Lup, Kwakeithel, by 2-0 sets. In another game, they came up with a crushing win against Social Cultural and Mass Communication, Sagolband, defeating the latter 2-0. Manipur Police Sports Club (A) received a blow from Yaipha Thousil Lup, Kwakeithel (A), with the latter overcoming Manipur Police in 2-1 sets. Yaipha Thousil Lup won the first game 21-10 but Manipur Police fought back to take the second set 21-19. The third set had to be decided through a tiebreak. In the third set, Yaipha Thousil Lup displayed grit to clinch the match. Manipur Police Sports Club (A), in another match, defeated Sports Cultural and Mass Communication, Sagolband, in 2-0 sets: 21-3, 21-11. On the other hand, Manipur Police Sports Club (B) came up with a 2-0 set win against Ibudhou Marjing Social Union Club. Yaipha Thousil Lup (B) had a hard-earned 2-0 set win against Youth Amateur Welfare Association (B). |
