Dibrugarh, Jan. 5: Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club (ASEB SC) blanked Peerless, Calcutta, 2-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the 4th OIL Challenge Gold Cup Football Tournament under way at the Nehru Maidan in Duliajan.
Oil India Ltd is organising the tournament. Bikash Narzary scored the first goal for ASEB in the 29th minute. ASEB led 1-0 till the breather.
Though the Calcutta team tried its best in the second half, the team could not score due to poor finishing by their strikers.
Meanwhile, Sarbananda Sonowal of ASEB made it 2-0 in the 76th minute to seal the fate of Peerless.
Hosts OIL FC will clash with Nagaland Police in the first quarter-final on Tuesday.
