Guwahati, Dec 29 : Oil India Football Club, Duliajan, annexed the 57th Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Bordoloi Trophy football tournament title blanking Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) Sports Club, Guwahati, 3-0 in the final played under flood lights at Nehru Stadium here this evening.
After a goalless 90-minute regulation time, the match was decided with all the three goals scored in the second 15-minutes of extra time.
Foreign recruit Okwuelum Ezekiel drew first blood in the 21st minute of the extra time.
He made no mistake in heading in a Mintu Boro centre from top of the goalbox.
Mintu Boro consolidated the lead in the 24th minute with solo efforts.
Seasoned medio H.L. Routa hammered in the last nail into ASEB’s coffin in the 28th minute of extra time. He shot home the stunner during a goalmouth melee.
Earlier in a evenly-poised match during regulation time, both the ASEB and Oil India outfits made several breakthroughs into each other’s territories but could not reap any benefits because of the superb performance of the custodians and defenders.
Oil India dominated the first half, while the second half saw ASEB dominating the proceedings.
