Imphal, Dec 27 : Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club defeated Eastern Sporting Union by 2-0 goals to register their third consecutive victory in the 8th Women’s Winners’ Cup Football Tournament at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium here today.
In another match, Manipur Police Sports Club blanked Kangchup Road Youth Physical and Sporting Association by 2-0 goals.
The match between Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club and Eastern Sporting Union was an evenly contested affair but the latter’s strikers lacked the sting to penetrate the Naharol defence.
Naharol got their first goal in the 17th minute of play from a corner kick taken by Y. Kamala Devi, which was collected by A. Sunita Devi and cleanly deposited in the net.
The Naharol outfit fetched their second goal in the 42nd minute from a thirty-yard free kick as Y. Kamala Devi sent a perfect lofted shot to make it 2-0 for the victors.
Manipur Police Sports Club bettered theirs performance in the league with a 2-0 goal victory against Kangchup Road Youth Physical and Sporting Association.
For Manipur Police, this is their third straight victory, while for the Kangchup Road team, it was their third successive defeat.
