Odisha beat Mizoram in National Women Football

Bhubaneswar: In Odisha’s inaugural match the women team edged out Mizoram by 3-0 goals in the 20th Senior Women’s National Football Championship in Assam on Monday. In the 2nd minute Jabamanai Soren opened the account for the State by taking a long range shooting of 15yds .

After the change of sides, Gayatri Mallick increased the lead in the 62nd minute by taking long range shooting of 25 yds and in 75th minute  Menaka Malik finally made it 3-0 in favor of Odisha. Odisha would meet Haryana on Wednesday. It is a good beginning in the tournament we put our marking with a winning note, said coach Sradhanjali Samantary.

Women's Football Nationals to be held in Assam

New Delhi, Apr 1 (PTI) The 20th edition of the Women's National Football Championship will be held from April 27 to May 11 in Dibrugarh and Golaghat districts in Assam.

Twenty states have been divided into four groups of five with defending champions Orissa in Group B along with Karnataka, Goa, Mizoram, and Gujarat.

The most accomplished side in the tournament, Manipur have been clubbed in Group A along with Railways, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, the AIFF said.
